- Collect five animals of the same type. Claim any new Index discovery first.
- Go to the Mutation Machine in the Pen, beside the Coils Shop.
- Add the five matching animals one at a time.
- Wait for its timer, then claim the Gold animal.
The reported recipe consumes five animals and returns one, freeing four slots. Choose copies you intend to combine; keep rare-size or special copies separate when comparing the inputs.

The guide places this event after Training Frenzy, with a seven-minute collection window. Look for purple-aura eggs across the map, return them to your plot and hatch them. Spend the short window collecting eggs you can actually bring home.
The September 8 mutation article says those eggs include Gold and Purple Aurora; the September 3 event article describes the combined result as a chance. Both describe combined mutations, but their certainty differs. Plan around finding purple eggs and inspect the result, rather than treating every hatch as a guaranteed combination.
OTTER reads an event description saying 50% of eggs receive Purple Aurora at 27:43. This is a creator-reported event percentage, not a 50% chance to hatch a particular species.

For five equal animals earning b each, keeping them produces 5b. One Gold at 4× produces 4b: 20% less total income until you use the four freed slots. If each replacement earns r, the new lineup produces 4b + 4r.

Keeping five base animals earns more
Keep five: $500/s. One Gold: $400/s. Gold + four replacements: $400/s.
Change: −$100/s. Each replacement must exceed $25/s to improve the original five-animal total.

Is Gold always the best choice?
Gold gives more income per slot than one matching base animal. Five base animals can still earn more in total if the freed slots remain empty. Compare the whole lineup above before using the machine.
Is Purple Aurora the same as Divine?
No. Purple Aurora describes a mutation; a Divine spawn is an egg-acquisition opportunity. They can overlap in an event. Follow the Divine Egg guide for the notification, route and return steps.
